As promised, I’m back with another blog post this week. This one will be a bit more personal and a general update on my life. Where have I been? What have I been up to? Did I fulfil my intentions for February? Let’s dive in.
February was a very hectic month for me. The main factor was Law Ball 2019: A Night in Paris. My passion project for the Warwick Law Society for the past year. Countless hours of planning, organisation, negotiation have gone into this event and it finally came to fruition at the end of February. I’ll do a separate dedicated post to this soon accompanied with a lot of photos so stay tuned but, overall, I’m so happy with how everything came together.
Yesterday, we held elections for a new Law Society executive committee, meaning I am officially no longer a Law Ball Coordinator. On the one hand, PHEW! What a sigh of relief. I can finally focus on my university assignments and not have to worry about performers dropping out last minute or people changing their dietary requirements for the 100th time, haha! On the other hand, I feel a bit empty. What do I do now? What do I do with all of this free time I suddenly have? I find it difficult to not be doing something on the side. I guess I’ll channel that energy into my blog. Sounds like a good and appropriate solution to me. I’ve been involved with the Warwick Law Society since 2015 (four years!?) and it feels weird saying goodbye to a society that’s given so much to me. It’s not all said as I’m excited to see what the new exec achieve in the coming years.
Just a couple of days before Law Ball 2019, I was involved in the charity fashion show run by LINE – a fashion society at
As for my February intentions that I wrote about? Well, here’s my update on whether I achieved any of them:
Friendships – Make an effort to stay in touch with long-distance friends: I’ve made an active effort in this regard and even visited one of my friends in Leeds. I also send voice notes to friends I don’t regularly see on WhatsApp to tell them that I’m thinking of them or have a quick catch up. It’s always nice to get a message from someone you haven’t spoken to in a long time and can really make someone’s day that much better. So, overall? I’m quite happy with this one. Tick!
Travel – Book a trip to somewhere: This is kind of cheating but I’m pretty sure I already had a trip booked to Madrid when I wrote my February intentions… So this, too, is a yes! We’re going away next Saturday and I’m On top of that, I’ve booked another flight back home to Luxembourg for Easter so that’s something I’m really looking forward to. Family time is something I’ve been prioritising a lot this year. There’s nothing quite like snuggles from my doggo as well! ❤️
Jobs – Be kinder to myself and start recognising my achievements: I am very proud to say that I’ve worked a lot on this in February and have made significant progress on. In a couple of hours’ time, I will be participating in “The Enterprising Woman” event at the Warwick University Students’ Union. It’s all about showcasing different women at Warwick who have their own passion project on the side of their studies. I was asked to participate because of my blog!? CAN YOU BELIEVE?! I still have a lot of imposter syndrome about it all and I feel like there’s been some big mistake… but I’d be crazy not to say yes, right? I hope this doesn’t come across as a humble brag because that’s not my intention here but, you know what, what the heck. I’m proud.
Law Ball 2019 – Do the best that you can and actually enjoy it: YES. I’m not going to expand on this more because you’re probably sick of hearing about it by now. You can read about it all in my dedicated Law Ball post, hehe… 😉
Did you set any intentions for yourself? If so, what are they?
